TV Page
Here are the TV shows I have seen and reviewed. I always tell myself I am going to start the next show I've been meaning to watch, but never do. Sometimes the stars align and I manage to actually finish a show.
Fallout Season 2
Another example of why TV shows need to be more than 8 episodes! Fallout Season 2 introduces so many plot points and lore that are all interesting, but they all are failed by the fact that they hardly have any screen time to develop. Lore, locations, or characters will be introduced, only to be resolved quickly or be postponed to be finished later in the season. A lot of scenes and plots feel like they needed more time to flesh out and explain. What happened to shows having 10-20 episodes a season? That all being said, what is here is very interesting and well done. Like I said for the first season, every set piece and prop looks like it is straight from the game. There is a clear love and care for the Fallout franchise the creators of this show have. The stories are interesting, and there are a lot. I loved the parts with the brotherhood and the pre war scenes. The characters are all great too; The Ghoul continues to be the best, but I also like how much Maximus develops. There’s plenty of humor and aura farming as well; including a very obvious fan service scene in the finale that I couldn’t deny was cool. One thing I didn’t like was that they kept teasing mysteries that take way too long to reveal, or get left on a cliff hanger, which was annoying, but the reveals that were there were cool. Enjoy this season before a bunch of New Vegas fanboys complain about how their favorite wholesome chungus fantheory ending for New Vegas isn’t in the show and that Todd Howard hates them or some bullshit like that.
Stranger Things
Stranger Things Season 1 is genuinely a great piece of TV. The mystery is interesting and suspenseful, the horror is actually scary. I remember discussing this show with my classmates and yelling at them to not spoil anything for me because of how invested I was. There were plenty of moments where I was astonished at what was happening or being revealed. Its a shame that the rest of the seasons drop off a fucking cliff after the first. Each season the writing gets more boring and lazy, and the show relies on pop culture nostalgia, fan service, and cliches. By season 3, the small town horror and mystery has been completely removed and replaced with generic action plot level stakes. The fourth season was the worst to me. Even though it had better writing than the previous season, but because they replaced the villain in the worst way possible. Originally, the big bad from the upside down was some incomprehensible Lovecraftian entity from another dimension, then in season 4, they reveal that it was actually Vecna, just some guy who has a grudge against 11, who was responsible for the whole series. What a mistake. It destroyed all interest I had in the show, and judging by the shit I’ve seen online from the newest season, I didn’t miss out on much. .
Fallout - Season 1
I am a big Fallout fan and was somewhat excited about this show, but I know how bad video game adaptations can be (Halo, Resident Evil). That being said, Fallout is the best video game adaptation I have seen. The sets and props in this show look like they were taken straight from the game, and that’s because they were. The crew took the 3d models directly from the games and created all the sets and costumes with them. All the different characters act like the do in the games. The ghouls are scary, the raiders are also scary, the robots are silly and scary. There is plenty of humor, but there is plenty of horror with all the experiments and murder and violence. The story is great too and has drama and mystery. The best part of the show has to be the characters. Walton Goggins as the Ghoul steals every scene he's in. Lucy and Maximus are two lovable dumbasses who are so ignorant yet capable. Ella Purnell is the most beautiful woman ever (make sure you take this part out before publishing).
Breaking Bad
My favorite TV show ever, possibly. I first saw this show in high school and I remember falling out of my chair at disbelief at what I was seeing. When I first saw the scene with the broken plate in the first season, I knew just how good this show would be. I really cannot describe how great this show is. Vince Gilligan really made one of the best suspense dramas, and Bryan Craston really nails the performance of this timid nobody teacher turning into a violent drug lord. Breaking Bad is also stacked with incredible suporting characters, most who could also lead their own show. Incredibly violent, suspenseful, dramatic, intelligent, and comedic, Breaking Bad builds up to some of the greatest moments in TV. My only show that I think you should HAVE to see if you haven't.
